Mobile listing pages unavailable for a day

Dear all, Introducing a change to the mobile pages, we accidentally knocked out the normal listings… If one was looking for food in jumeirah, or any in , it would end up with a 404 error. Our bad, sorry for the inconvencience. All is fixed now!

Mobile site redirection

Hi all, We fixed a little bug that appeared when you would click the website link of one of our places on our mobile site. We noticed errors in the redirections. But these are fixed now, sorry for the inconvenience caused. Thanks, Michael

Bug fixed

We had a small bug that creeped into the code which would give an error on finding similar nearby places. This was a bit of untested code, and could create problems with some of the places. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks, Michael

Places.ae downtime

This morning, the web instances of places went down for little over an hour. We restarted them and are all up and running again. The issue was due to a memory leak in our application pool, but all is smooth again. We also decreased the session lifetime from 2 months to 2 weeks, this would [...]

Google maps hiccups

Dear all, It seems that the Google Maps API is broken, and some places could show up without any maps. We can’t do anything about it, but please wait until Google fixes this (which I’m sure they’ll do very soon). Thank you, Michael

Small hiccups fixed

Dear all, We had some hiccups with the apache configuration a few days ago whereby all traffic was routed to blog.places.ae instead of the main site. Burjuman went missing, just for a day

Dear all, Due to doing some testing with the new location engine in places.ae, we used “Bur Juman Mall” (link) as a test bed, and with some malfunctioning less-optimized SQL queries, we made the mall disappear.
